Foothill College Physical Science and Engineering Center
The $44 Million multi-building complex consists of a 36,000 sq.ft. teaching chemistry and physics laboratory, a 9,000 sq.ft. student common/staff office facility, and a 12,000 sq.ft. classroom building. The project achieved LEED Silver Certification. The mechanical system consists of a VAV fume hood exhaust system, high velocity plume exhaust system, optimal controls with occupancy setback, DI/RO water system, site chilled water and heating hot water distribution system, lab vacuum, lab compressed air, and natural gas distribution. During this Project, the District was contemplating updating their BAS system from a proprietary system to an open-platform to allow for higher flexibility and cost competitiveness for future projects. Gayner Engineer was instrumental in the decision making process by providing necessary technical support and coordination with the District’s own consultant.
