Oklahoma Medical Research Center - Transgenic Rodent Facility
This project was an addition to an existing structure for Transgenic Rodent research. The facility was provided with an overhead interstitial space in which all of the MEP utilities were located, thereby requiring little to no access into the animal holding rooms for regular maintenance. Mechanical systems were provided with 100% redundancy. Rodent racks are ventilated. Cage and rack cleaning and support systems include steam sterilizers, cage washer, rack washer, a hydrogen peroxide vapor sterilization room for equipment and products that cannot tolerate high temperature steam sterilization, and an automated bedding disposal system. A laminar hood pass-through system was also installed for maintaining the facility isolation integrity.
