UC Merced Classroom and Office Building II
Architect: Solomon Cordwell and Buenz
The $45 million, 3 story, building provides approximately 77,000 square feet of flexible classroom, academic support, large lecture halls, research and office space. The building was designed to target LEED Platinum Certification. The building systems consists of a high performance heat recovery VAV system with controls optimization. Other sustainable design measures include daylight harvesting system, low flow plumbing fixtures, optimized envelope design with energy performance simulation, and demand controlled ventilation. Gayner Engineers was also responsible for developing the Functional Performance Test for the use of building system commissioning.
